Y is the ( rare) dry white produced from the same outstanding terroir and vines as Chateau d’Yquem. There have only been about 40 vintages since 1959. The Sauvignon Blanc is picked ripe, at the start of the vintage, complemented by Semillon picked just as Botrytis has appeared, the blend usually 75% Sauvignon blanc, 25% Semillon. It’s dry, rich and balanced with amazing aromas of dried pineapple on the finish -it’s remarkable, interesting and unique and will improve. We drank a bottle on 31.12.21 with crab it was delicious. I bought 6 bottles en primeur and it’s been stored in my cellar since release. I am keeping the rest so if you like white Bordeaux this is your chance!
