Lead by Jean-Dominique and his cousin Jean-Laurent, the family domaine produces a range of different single vineyard Sancerres in white, red and pink that reflects not just the rich variety of the terroirs in the region, but the concept of the cousins who seem to demonstrate that the Sancerrois is no less fascinating than the Côte d'Or.”

From one of the oldest established families in Sancerre, cousins Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominique Vacheron have been fighting to regain their position at the top of the appellation. The recent vintages have been exceptional and equally good for the reds as for the whites. Certified biodynamic, the Vacherons are now seen as equals to Alphonse Mellot. Having two or three great producers competing at the top is fantastic for the appellation.

'Les Romains' is one of the rare single-vineyard Sancerres grown on flint soils and is regarded by many critics as one of the benchmark wines of the appellation. The vibrant and pure Sancerre Blanc 'Les Romains' Domaine Vacheron is full bodied with a refreshing acidity and serious complexity. Notes of lime zest, grapefruit, starfruit, sorrel, earth and truffle, together with a powerful smoky, saline minerality, persist on the finish and delights the senses.
