The 2018 vintage was hot, and the vines were pushed to the limit throughout the growing season. Unlike other hot vintages, such as the critically acclaimed 2003 vintage, the vines were doing better in 2018.

If we are to compare the 2018 vintage with anything, it will be, as Jeb Dunnuck writes, a hypothetical blend of the two legendary vintages of 2009 and 2010 with scores of 98 and 98.2 respectively.
