Description

One bottle of this wine, being the bottle shown in the photographs. I've owned this bottle for many years and have kept it properly cellared during that time. I bought it as a single bottle. The labels are decent for a bottle of this age, with some slight raising at the edges as shown in the photographs. I haven't detected any evidence of seepage. There is some slight pitting of the capsule, again as shown. The level is into the neck.

Seemingly not available in the UK.

Critic tasting notes: "(2002) Gorgeous nose. Notes of brown sugar, fudge, sweet cherries, briar-wood and roses. The palate is spicy, suffused with coffee-bean charry oak, and filled with sweet fruit. Nice cedary component too, and a deliciously balanced wine with an elegant finish." - 89/100, Tom Cannavan.

90 points Wine Spectator: "Charming, with focused cherry and smoke flavors and super-firm tannins." (1/1992)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "From an impeccably stored bottle purchased on release. Now beginning to display bricking though no browning. Distinct secondary aromas blend with earth, some spice and fairly strong game notes that merge into rich, sweet and round medium full flavors that are almost fully resolved though there is a bit of tannin remaining on the moderately long finish. I very much like the balance here and while this is not a deep or seriously complex wine, it has reached that stage where it's eminently satisfying. Tasted twice recently with consistent notes."(4/2005)
