Description

One bottle of this wine, bought as part of a case many years ago from the late Ian Howe of Newark, a reputable wine merchant, and properly stored since then in a dark cellar. The bottle on sale is that shown in the photographs, and is individually numbered as shown. The bottle itself and capsule are in decent condition. There is some staining to the label as shown, and a little scuffing as shown. Difficult to find this wine in the UK and currently retailing for approximately £422 per bottle in Europe.

“An overperformer in a challenging vintage, the 2000 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru is drinking beautifully, bursting with aromas of incense, dark chocolate, raspberries, plums and grilled game bird. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with sweet tannins and a rich core of fruit. The wine is at its peak, even in magnum, so readers with bottles in their cellars shouldn't hesitate to open them.90.”

A few Cellartracker reviews:

8/12/2021 - Philip67 Likes this wine: 94 Points
Gorgeous sweet bramble fruit, moderate acidity and tannins. Really quite soft and silky. Long finish, complex. Drink now and over the next 10 years.

10/25/2020 - ONEFIVE Likes this wine:
Brick edge, garnet core.
Outstanding on the nose. Dried cranberry, hoisin, dried cherry, iron, damp earth, and bitter coffee notes.
Fully integrated on the palate. Light tannin, moderate acidity and a solid core of fruit. Seems a little tight at first so I believe this will flesh out with some air.
It may be time to drink up.

3/28/2020 - wlayne Likes this wine: 94 Points
This was absolutely singing! Perfectly balanced, meaty, beautiful dark fruit and well integrated tanin structure. In a perfect spot right now. Very light decant recommended.
