Description

One bottle of this wine, being the bottle shown in the pictures, bought on release and kept in a proper cellar since. The capsule is ok, although a little bunched up at one point as shown, and the label is torn at the bottom left, also as shown.

Beautiful amber color. Nose and tastes of honey, orange marmalade, cinnamon, and golden raisins. Had a slight hint of sherry on the backside. The wine got even more intense and flavorful with additional time in the glass. Very nicely balanced between the alcohol, acid, and fruit. A seriously delicious sauternes that has held up well over 35 years.

Totally agree with previous tasting note pasted, albeit this is two years later. Came at the end of a very full-on evening of seven other superb bottles, and was vying for top place as the stand out. Honey and peaches and beautiful deep amber colour. Had with green tea affogato.

PHMG WAG: Sideways Revisited (Lyon Down Inn): Seemingly perfect bottle and cork, this has honeyed orange peel, spiced walnuts, and some tropical fruit flavors. The acidity is immediate and keeps the sugar in check. Exploded with Roquefort cheese. Just a great old bottle!
