Description

Made from grapes from the vineyard of our Benedictine Monastery, planted in 1985. The Mediterranean climate, low production and soils rich in calcareous gravel provide a lot of structure and complexity to the wines.
Development and aging:
The proximity of the vineyard to the winery allows us to take exceptional care of the grapes to produce our most iconic wine, to which the image of our brand gives its name. After the vinification of the best, carefully selected grapes, it is aged in the monastery's cellar, a legacy of the Benedictine monks.
It rests for 18 months in new French oak barrels and then 6 months in 10,000-litre French oak foudres. The size of the foudres reduces the contact of the wine with the wood, allowing a long and respectful aging. Mixed aging results in rounded tannins, greater complexity and intact fruit expression.
Baron de Ley only produces Crianzas, Reservas, and Limited Editions.
