Description

From the iconic Northern Rhone Valley appellation of Hermitage, the red wines are mostly Syrah, though small volumes of white grapes Marsanne and Roussanne are permitted to be blended in to soften tannins if need be.

Chapoutier's "Monier de la Sizeranne" is 100% Syrah, featuring grapes brought together from vineyards on both the east and west sides of the Hermitage hill; matured in small oak barrels for between 12-14 months.

"An elegant, light-styled offering. The color is deep ruby, and the wine offers notes of plums, figs, cassis, and that inky aroma that emerges occasionally in Hermitage. It is medium to full-bodied, with moderate tannin." - Robert Parker

"While the fruit—ripe, black and intense—gives this wine its power, there is also a huge core of toughness, that means it is going to be almost indestructible as it ages. Waiting is certainly the name of the game—20 years or more." - Roger Voss
