Description

This Baron de Ona Reserva wine (the winery belongs to the group Rioja Alta) is made of 95% Tempranillo and 5% Mazuelo from vineyards that surround the bodega.Harvest began on October 11th.Different parcels were collected in different stages,depending on their relative ripeness.Only grapes with a high potential alcohol level,good potential aromatics and high levels of polyphenols were selected and brought into the bodega over a period of 14 days.
24 months ageing of the wine is carried out separately:one third takes place in French oak barrels and two thirds in American oak barrels.The wine was bottled in July 2002.
The alcohol level is 13% and the winemaker believes that this wine should age well.

"Seductive nose of rose petals,cigar box and leather.Opened up a bit quietly - not much fruit at first,but after a few minutes in the glass,the red fruit came forward and settled in nicely with the flowers and a well-balanced acidity.Medium-bodied.A good food wine".

"Medium cherry red in color,bright and lively at the core,with a lighter rim.Aromatically intense with a mixture of leather,licorice and spices over a background of forest fruits (dark berries).The palate is round,with soft tannins and an elegant mouthfeel,perfectly bred.Long,complex finish,balanced by light acidity.This wine will age well".
