Description

This auction is for two lots of two 750ml bottles each of the 1987 Contino Rioja Reserva.

All the bottles above were from one original wooden case of 12x75cl which I personally opened last week after being removed from professional storage, where it had been stored since arrival in the UK. Bottles are in excellent condition - fills are well into neck, foil and capsule intact, labels in mint condition. It was clear on opening that it had been stored properly its entire life.

A note on the wine itself - fully mature now, still very fresh and lively, fruity acidity, red currant fruit with cedar and balsamic notes on the mid palate. 1987 was generally regarded as an excellent vintage for Rioja, with Decanter giving it 4/5 stars and Berry Bros giving it 9/10. Contino is now part of the CVNE group.
